Welcome to First Grade!

My name is Mrs. Braxton, and I will be your child’s first-grade teacher for the 2024-2025 school year. I am excited to continue this journey with a strong community at John D. Jenkins Elementary, filled with an awesome staff and wonderful families.

I look forward to getting to know each student and family in my class, so I’ll start things off by sharing a little about myself. I was raised in Prince William County and have loved being able to start my teaching career in the county I grew up in. This will be my sixth-year teaching First Grade at John D. Jenkins Elementary. I have a Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction from George Mason University. When I am not teaching, I love spending time with my son Luca and going on family adventures!

In our classroom, we will work together to build strong relationships and establish a strong classroom foundation. We will continue to grow as active learners and great leaders. Together, we will make this an incredible school year!

If you have any questions, comments or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me at [email protected] or through Class Dojo.

I look forward to meeting you,

Mrs. Braxton

KinglockeDear Families,

Welcome back to a new school year! I am Miss Kinglocke, and I’m thrilled to be your child’s first grade teacher. This will be my tenth-year teaching, and I have been apart of Jenkins Elementary for a year. I hail from the unique and beautiful island of Jamaica where I studied elementary education at the Bethlehem Moravian College. My son and I have been living in Virginia for a year. In my leisure, I enjoy music, movies and exploring new places.

I’m extremely excited about 1st grade. We have lots of fun and exciting learning opportunities planned. I anticipate what this year has in store for the students, and I look forward to working, communicating and collaborating with you for the success of our students. Together we can create a supportive and inclusive educational experience where every student thrives and grows. I’m truly looking forward to a fantastic year with your child.

Thank you for your trust and partnership.

 Sincerely,

Paula Kinglocke

My name is Mrs. Katie Rubach and I am a proud 1st grade teacher here at Jenkins.  This is my 2nd year at Jenkins and  I am so excited to learn and grow with your children.

I was born and raised in Buffalo, New York. In 2010 I moved to the D.C area with my now husband. When I started working in this area, I worked in the early childhood field as a director of a childcare center. After having our 3rd son, I decided to stay at home with our boys.  When my youngest started Kindergarten I felt ready to return to the field.  In grateful Jenkins was the next chapter in my career.  Along with my 3 beautiful sons, we have 3 amazing dogs.

If you need anything from me, please feel free to reach out via email [email protected]

Hello Jenkins Families!

My name is Ms. Steven and I am so excited to start this new school year as your child's first grade teacher! Jenkins is all about building community in each other and that is exactly what I strive to do in the classroom. We are going to have a year full of fun, learning, new friendships, and new experiences.

To tell you a little about myself, I grew up in PWCS, going to school very nearby at Old Bridge ES, Westridge ES, Woodbridge Middle and High School. It felt so amazing to come back to my roots! I also coach Color Guard in Fairfax at Robinson Secondary and have enjoyed doing this beautiful sport for over 10 years! I love to read, craft, sing, and I have a very big spot in my heart for Harry Potter.

I am really looking forward to starting this new school year and am ready to have your students join me in the journey! If you have any questions, comments or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me at [email protected].

I look forward to meeting you,

Ms. Steven
