Greetings JJES,

I am so excited about the opening of our new school. My goal is to ensure that every student has access to a comprehensive program that provides academic, personal/social and career support. I enjoy helping students develop skills that can be used throughout the lifespan. I believe that education is the fuel for success and that all students have the ability to succeed! I earned by Master of Education in counseling and human development at George Mason University. In my spare time I enjoy reading, roller skating and exploring new and exciting places. I have traveled around the world to more than 20 countries and have visited every major city in the United States. I enjoy sharing my experiences with students. I want every student to have an awesome school year. Please don’t hesitate to contact me via email or phone with your questions and concerns.

Sincerely,
Mrs. Scott-Bell

Hello! My name is Joy Steen and I am a Professional School Counselor who was born and raised in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. I attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill- (go heels!) and remained in the Durham/Chapel Hill area until 2010 when I moved to Washington, DC to attend George Washington University. I graduated with my Master’s in School Counseling from GWU in 2012 and worked at a public school in Washington, DC until 2017. I then moved to Tucson, AZ where I worked in an elementary school until moving to Fairfax, VA this past summer. I love the Fall and am happy to be back on the East Coast. I look forward to working with the students and families at Jenkins Elementary and can't wait to see all the successes our students have this year!
