Habit #7

Sharpen the Saw

Take care of your mind, body and soul.

Coping Skills

Emotions are strong feelings we have when good things happen and when bad things happen. Good things cause feelings that make us happy, while bad things cause feelings that make us sad.

A feeling can sometimes be a problem if we do not handle it correctly. Coping skills help us control how we handle our feelings. Please remember to practice the coping skills you have been learning this year.

  • Ask yourself, "How do I feel?"
  • Stop and think before you act
  • Take 5 deep breaths
  • Count to 10
  • Do the "Sharkfin"
  • Think of things that make your happy
  • Listen to music, read a book, draw
  • Talk to a friend
  • Ask an adult for help
