Library PROCEDURES AND POLICIES

How many books can my child check out?

Kindergarten and First Grade = 1 book daily (Kindergarten parents, if you are not seeing a new book in your child’s backpack from the library there is a good chance your child has an overdue book.)

2nd- 5th grade = 2 books

When can we check out books?

K -5th Grade can check out books when they return books.  We have an open-door policy; students can check out during the school day from 9:35-3:35.  Students can also check out during their library lessons. Books can be checked out for a two-week period.

Overdue Policy

If books are overdue, students will not check out in the library until overdue books are returned or paid for.

Overdue book information is shared with students each time they visit the library.  Students may use their username and password that they use to log in to any computer at Jenkins Elementary to check their library status by signing into the following link to John Jenkins Library

  1.

  1. The log in is in the upper right-hand corner

Overdue library notices are sent home every four week and mailed home at the end of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd quarter. Then they are mailed every month during 4th quarter.

If you have a question about an overdue book, please email me at youngbjc@pwcs.edu   Sometimes the book is found in the classroom or on the shelf.  This doesn’t happen often, but if you send me an email, I can quickly check to make sure the book is accounted for. My goal is to have your child reading as many books as possible this school year and I want to see them checking out books often!
