PARENT INFORMATION: The health and safety of all students remain a top priority for our First-Grade teachers and we hope that everyone is doing well and practicing safe habits during this time away from school. In addition, the first-grade team has compiled a list of helpful online resources and tools to help parents foster engaging learning environments at home. So please visit our classroom webpages regularly for weekly updates and information regarding our new distance learning objectives. Parents will have access to a home learning calendar and online tools to help support their child's academic goals. And as always please don’t hesitate to contact your child’s classroom teacher by email (braxtosr@pwcs.edu) or ClassDojo if you have any questions regarding the standards highlighted or the online websites that have been provided. Home Learning Resources: Division Digital Resources

PWCS uses a single sign-on portal called, Clever, that allows students to easily access approved resources and tools without creating multiple login credentials.  Student Access to Clever

MATHEMATICS

o  Create and solve single-step story and picture problems using addition and subtraction within 20.  

o  Describe with fluency part-whole relationships for numbers up to 10. Demonstrate fluency with addition and subtraction within 10.  

o  Collect, organize, and represent various forms of data using tables, picture graphs, and object graphs.  

o  Read and interpret data displayed in tables, picture graphs, and object graphs, using the vocabulary more, less, fewer, greater than, less than, and equal to.  

o  Demonstrate an understanding of equality through the use of the equal symbol. 

o  Math Routines: Count forward orally by ones to 110, starting at any number between 0 and 110, write numerals 0 to 110 in sequence and out of sequence.

LANGUAGE ARTS

o  Read and reread familiar stories and poems with fluency, accuracy, and meaningful expression. (Fiction and Nonfiction)

o  Ask and answer questions about rhyming and non-rhyming poems. (Fiction and Nonfiction)

o  Make text-to-self connections about poems. Ex. This poem reminds me of…

o  Read and demonstrate comprehension of a variety of fictional texts. (preview the selection, set a purpose for reading, relate previous experiences to what is read)

o  Ask for the meaning of unknown words and make connections to familiar words.

o  Write in a variety of forms to include narrative, descriptive, and opinion.

o  Expand vocabulary and discuss meanings of words in context. Use text clues such as words or pictures to discern meanings of unknown words.

SOCIAL STUDIES/SCIENCE

o  Explain the difference between goods and services and describe how people are consumers and producers of goods and services.
